OUR STORY

Hello!

I’m Mirlaine, mom, wife and every day cook!  Interestingly enough the idea for Cook and Create for Kids started before I even had children.  Working in corporate America for all of my professional career,  I always felt like something was missing.  After much thought, I had an ah ha moment and thought “if you can’t find what you are looking for in a career…..make your own”.  So, I decided to combine what I do best, and do exactly that!  That’s how Cook and Create for Kids was born!  Cook and Create for Kids brings together my love of cooking AND knack for teaching children.  My goal is to  expose children to different cultures, provide a fun platform to learn math, etiquette, healthy eating, collaboration, social skills/communication, and independence.

Baking and preparing meals with your children is a bonding experience that teaches them vital life lessons.  You would be amazed at how it boosts their confidence, independence and creativity. This leads to healthier eating choices down the road.  Cook and Create for kids helps to facilitate this experience with fun, interactive and very tasty cooking lessons.

So, if we haven’t met yet, hopefully you can take part in a cooking class soon and we can learn and have fun together.

Sincerely,

Mirlaine

Founder of Cook and Create for Kids, LLC

The Inspiration

grandmafrancoise.jpg

This is Francoise, my maternal grandma.  She arrived in NYC from Jacmel, Haiti in the 80's. I had the honor of growing up with her, which shaped a large part of my life.  Not only did I learn the fundamentals of cooking and a love for our native Haitian food, but I got to witness patience and kindness every day I was able to spend with her.

She always welcomed me into the kitchen with a smile, took the time to teach me and never turned me away.  This is the lesson that I remember and bring forth when I am teaching my girls and other students.  This is the lesson that I hope to share with countless children.
