Eating the rainbow is important because color brings its own unique nutritional benefits. When you can’t get your kids to “eat the rainbow” 🌈. Try getting them to drink it! Mixing fruits and veggies in smoothies gives you a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants!
Red foods: are packed with lycopene and anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants that support heart health and may help reduce inflammation. Think tomatoes, red peppers, strawberries, and watermelon.
Green foods: are loaded with chlorophyll, folate, and lutein. They’re excellent for detoxification, eye health, and providing essential nutrients like iron and vitamin K. Spinach, kale, broccoli, and green apples are great examples.
Yellow foods: contain carotenoids like beta-carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A for immune function and healthy skin. They also often have vitamin C for immunity. Think bananas, yellow peppers, and pineapple.
